Albert asks: "What mental or physical maneuvers block or limit emotional resistance so that we can speed integration or desensitization?"

Albert here's some of the outstanding time-tested methods of relieving emotional resistance. Many of these methods are found in Emoclear integrators and exposure-desensitization methods.

Here's a list of the ground floor emotional resistance breaking measures. These are essential to dealing with the common human challenge of resisting emotions, feelings, sensations, thoughts, memories ect. Here goes:

*Letting the emotion, feeling, or sensation be there. Our No Intention Intention: Fully feel the feeling and allow it to be there without attempting to get rid of it or keep. Not adhering to this basic rule will create resistance. Any form of getting rid of feelings or making them negative or judged will stimulate resistance.

*Dis-identification maneuvers like "whisper labeling" which labels an emotion "Those sensations" or breathing into an emotion will put us outside an emotion and give a wider less intense view. Examples: "That feeling", "Those sensations", "Those feelings". Dis-identification brings us to the observer position where we ride above the storm and resist less. Dis-identification will also spontaneously occur with steady and absorbed observing.

PHYSICAL DERESISTANCE MEASURES. Physical dereistance measures are physical actions we can take which reduce reduce or stop resistance:

*Lower forehead/eyebrow palming reduces resistance, negative judgements, and flight/fight overwhelm. This kind of palming alters blood flow into the frontal cortex.

*Heartbeat palming leads to a cooler view of what's being observed and heightens intuition. Being in the intuitive mode blocks emotional resistance.

*Left nasal breathwork and polarity breathing lower resistance.

*Completely relaxing the tongue to the point of flattening quiets down the thinking mind and reduces or blocks negative attitudes and judgemental beliefs the heart of resistance.

*Writing down our emotions and feelings leads to objectivity and less resistance.

*Humming/chanting reduce resistance. The thinking mind quiets down.

*Triggering a vagal response will undercut resistance because it quiets the mind.

*Laying a palm or gently pressing on an emotional, feeling, or physical sensation area will limit resistance.

ATTITUDINAL/ACCEPTANCE OR LOVE DERESISTANCE MEASURES. Here are the most common approaches:

*Accepting a feeling will slice through resistance.

*Loving a feeling will cut down resistance.

*Appreciating or gratitude toward a feeling will reduce resistance. This is where we recognize the good things emotions and feelings do for us and we appreciate them for it or feel gratitude.

*Curiosity or interest in a feeling or emotion reduces resistance.

*Being respectful and polite toward our feelings reduces resistance.

*Allowing/permissiveness toward an emotion or feeling reduces resistance.

PERCEPTUAL DERESISTANCE MEASURES. Here are some of the standards:

*Noticing details in event event reviews or noticing sensual details in an emotion, feeling, or sensation.

*Noticing the larger space around a feeling or observing the feeling or emotion with a wider field.

INTUITIVE/KNOWING DERESISTANCE MEASURES.

*Getting the intuitive emotional message or the intuitive knowings of a feeling, emotion, or sensation. A potent method for slicing through resistance and greatly reducing the probability of an emotional issues return.
We get the message and the lesson and we can actively respond in a way which can change the pattern.

MENTAL DERESISTANCE MEASURES. Here's some standard methods:

*Deliberately intensifying an emotion or feeling will reduce resistance.

*Playing with emotion, feeling, or sensation by enlarging/shrinking and migrating it will turn off resistance.

*Neutrally labeling or reframing an emotion will reduce resistance.

*Altering the judgemental cognitions and making them less absolute will reduce resistance.

*Exaggeration/humor are ageless methods for slicing through resistance.

*Asking questions with a vertical technique can lead to triggering an essence state. Resistance can't survive in an essence state like it can't in intuitive knowing and acceptance and love.

*As ifing/future orientation in time questions can put someone in a position without resistance. Example: What would your emotion feel like if you already accepted it or loved it? What would you begin to notice?

*Dialoging with emotions, feelings, and sensations reduces resistance.

Long-term measures for lowering resistance are:

*Habituating a No Intention Intention approach of feeling our feelings, allowing them to be there, and not attempting to get rid of them or keep them.

*Cultivating long-term appreciation, acceptance, curiosity, and gratitude toward our feelings and noticing the good things they do.
